Privacy policy
Interim version, 8 October 2026. A full version reviewed by our lawyers will replace it.
Ceesame introduces single working professionals to each other and arranges real dates. To do that well, we ask for more than most websites do, so we keep it to what we need and tell you exactly what happens to it.
What we collect
- When you request an invitation: your full name, email address, LinkedIn profile and whether you live in Lagos.
- When you apply: your name, date of birth, gender, area, mobile number, photos, your answers about your life, interests, faith, children, smoking and drinking, who you’d like to meet, your job title, industry, level, employer, monthly income range and LinkedIn profile, and the promises you agree to.
- As a member: your introductions and dates, your replies, feedback after a date, and messages in date chat.
- When you pay a commitment fee: the payment record. Card details go to our payment provider, Paystack, never to us.
Location data is removed from every photo before it is uploaded.
Why we use it
- To check you are who you say you are, working and single.
- To choose who to introduce you to, and plan a date you’ll both enjoy.
- To tell you about introductions and dates, by app notification, email and discreet text messages.
- To keep members safe: reports, no-shows and anyone breaking the community rules.
Your religion and income range are sensitive details. We only use them for matching, and only because you agreed to it when you applied. You can change them at any time.
Who sees what
- Someone we introduce you to sees your first name, age, photos, area, height, job title, industry, a few interests and the prompt answer you chose. Your surname and where you work stay private until you have both said yes to the date.
- Never shown to other members: your income range, LinkedIn profile, date of birth and email address. Your mobile number is only shared after a date, if you both say you’d like to meet again and you choose to share it.
- Ceesame’s team sees your application to verify it and choose introductions.
- Our service providers handle data only to run Ceesame: hosting and our database (stored in Ireland, in the EU), email and text message delivery, and Paystack for payments. We don’t sell your data or use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Invitation requests: 12 months, then deleted if we haven’t invited you.
- Applications we can’t accept: 90 days, then deleted.
- Photos from a rejected or deleted account: deleted within 7 days.
- Verification results: while you’re a member, and 12 months after.
- Feedback and match history: made anonymous 12 months after an account is deleted.
- Safety reports and our record of decisions: 3 years, for safety investigations.
- Payment records: 6 years, for tax.
Your rights
Under Nigeria’s Data Protection Act you can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, take a copy, delete your account, or withdraw your consent to us using sensitive details (which means we can no longer match you). Email us and we’ll reply within 30 days. Account deletion is completed within 7 days. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Age
Ceesame is for adults aged 23 to 45. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone younger.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above and tell members in the app. See also our terms of use.
